Victorian Amethyst Mourning Brooch 1842A stunning early Victorian brooch with a mourning locket to the reverse. The piece is engraved to the back Given in rememberence of Mrs Mary Holmes died Jan 1842 . 1817. The reverse contains a glazed compartment containing white hair. The Brooch is set with foil backed Amethysts and pearls in collet settings. 2. 9cm in width and 2. 7cm tall. Testing as 14ct gold cased. Nice clean condition. Front is in beautiful condition some wear to the reverse.

This product just feels like it was made on the bottom dollar. It is very cheaply made and the doors to the battery compartment are so fragile it feels like they may snap next time I have to change the batteries. There's absolutely no weather proofing so I wouldn't leave it outside in the rain or heat. That being said, it's fine. It stays put on our umbrella and puts out light, albeit not much light.
