The pencils are covered in gray dirt, a result of rubbing against the inside of the tin for decades on end but the pencils appear to be unused. The tin shows some wear and age, but it is good condition. These may be early post war, but they would still be appropriate.

I have used this brand exclusively on my BMW (110K) and Volvo (90K), with synthetic oil changes at 6000 miles religiously, and neither burns a single drop of oil.
