It is comparatively rare as I specified it from new with the factory fitted pure silver internal wiring option (the van den Hul MCS150 Litz wire), however nowhere on the packaging does it state this and SME do not hold records to this effect. I always found this very beneficial as it gets rid of the slight greyness that many critics level at this tonearm. The sound is

Good finish, poor hardware.
Set screws are poor quality and are sometimes powdercoated on the exposed threads. Leads to striped hex sockets and inability to tighten properly.
Durable finish as evidenced by no visible damage after throwing parts across the shop in frustration.
Ended up running self tapping screws thru parts to complete assembly.
