Model has an embedded O ring that seals on the seat. Pressure in the direction of flow moves the piston and seal off the seat and exposes the cross holes in the piston. Valve is designed to provide a positive seal at very low back pressure or slight vacuum.

It is very nice, I have many watches, but this one is the main one I use for casual wear. One thing I do not like: After about two days of either use or not use, the time gets off, by a couple hours but you can put it back pretty easily. And the "day display" on the watch never stays correct due to the fact that every month doesn't have 31 days in it. But other than that, it is a great watch for show, not to keep track of time.
